Unsolicited phone calls – nuisance calls, scams, telesales, abandoned or silent calls – can all cause untold disturbance, worry and upset for older people living alone.

Report scam calls to Action fraud

Action fraud is the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime.  – use this link to their website or phone them on 0300 123 2040.


Report nuisance calls to Ofcom

You can read more about how Ofcom can help in this  Ofcom easyread leaflet.


Register with the telephone preference service

It’s free and allows consumers to opt out of receiving any unsolicited telesales calls.  You can register a landline or mobile number online at this link to the telephone preference services or by phoning 0845 070 0707.  It will take 28 days to come into effect.
